It is rarely easy to say goodbye . . . 

Losing someone who had played a vital role in our lives is heart-breaking, emotional and often quite difficult to cope with. The pressure to get the funeral service just right and fitting, can be immense, sometimes not knowing where to begin with details, such as what readings to choose or music to play. 

Often we already have our own ideas, or perhaps the deceased has left preferences and in some cases - strict instructions!

As a funeral Celebrant, I can assist you through the process - alongside your Funeral Director - whether you know exactly what you would like on the day, or if you are starting from the very beginning.

I will come to your home and there we can talk through the day and put together entrance and exit songs or music, readings, poems and anything else that you might wish to include. You may have a theme or colour which you would like to feature.

As an Independent Celebrant I do not deliver religious services, however you can of course include a prayer or hymn of your choosing if you wish.

I will learn of your loved one's life in as little or as much detail as you feel is appropriate and with this I can write a eulogy for you, which can be delivered by myself of if you would prefer, someone of your own choosing, such as a family member of friend. The choice is yours.

This is your day, and so you may have your own readings and would like those to be delivered by family or friends. This also means that you can set the tone for the day. Many families now like to use the day as a celebration of life - wearing bright colours, including humour where appropriate and keeping music choices happy and uplifting.  

I like to spend a couple of hours at this meeting so that I can create something special for you, your family and friends and most importantly your loved one.

The Service

The service would begin with entrance music or song of your choice. This is followed by the welcome and opening words. A poem or reading can be delivered at this point, which leads into the eulogy - this would be approximately 10 mins in length. Another poem or reading here would then take us into a quiet moment of reflection with some music if you so wish. 

The Committal is then delivered, which would be followed by our final words any notices from the family and lastly exit music for the congregation. 

The entire service would last about 30-35 minutes.
